Abstract

The low skill of mothers in carrying out kangaroo method care makes the baby's condition unstable. One strategy to improve mothers' skills is through video media counseling on kangaroo method care. The purpose of this study was to identify differences in maternal skills in carrying out kangaroo method care before and after being given video media in the NICU Room of Mangusada Hospital in 2025. This study included quasi experimental research with Pretest-Postest Design using total sampling technique. The number of samples was 11 people. The data collection time was March to April 2025. The analysis technique used bivariate analysis, namely the Paired Test test p <0.05. The results showed that before being given video media with an average skill value of 64.09 and an increase in maternal skills after being given video media with an average of 83.18. The results of the Paired Test test analysis obtained a value of p=0.000. It can be concluded that there is a difference in the mother's skills in carrying out kangaroo method care before and after being given video media in the NICU Room of Mangusada Hospital in 2025. So it is recommended that health workers provide kangaroo method education innovatively so that the mother's skills increase.
