Pneumonia is an acute infection of the lower respiratory tract that is the leading cause of infant
death worldwide. This study aims to report the results of physiotherapy management in a case
of pneumonia in an infant at Udayana University Hospital. The method used was a case study
on a 6-month-old baby boy who had impaired respiratory function due to pneumonia. The
physiotherapy interventions provided included infrared, massage, chest physiotherapy (clapping,
postural drainage, and vibration) with the aim of improving respiratory function and clearing
the airway of excess secretions. The evaluation results showed that after four sessions of therapy,
there was an improvement in vital parameters such as heart rate and respiration rate stability,
and a slight decrease in body temperature. However, thoracic expansion did not show significant
improvement, and the level of breathlessness was still at scale 3 according to the Modified Borg
Dyspnoea Scale. Nonetheless, physiotherapy interventions contributed to improving the patient's
respiratory quality.
