Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of Transcultural Nursing-based health education
interventions on family readiness in preventing hypertension in the elderly in Suci Village, Panti,
Jember. Introduction explains that hypertension is an increasing global health problem, especially
among the elderly. Families have an important role in supporting hypertension prevention, but a
lack of knowledge and understanding is often an obstacle. The method used is a quasiexperimental
design with one group pre-test and post-test, involving families of elderly people at
risk of hypertension. The intervention consisted of health education and hypertension exercises.
Results show a significant increase in family readiness after the intervention, with an average pretest
score of 92.18 and post-test 133.51. A paired t test confirmed that this difference was
statistically significant (p < 0.05). Discussion emphasizes that culturally based health education
interventions are effective in increasing family understanding and support for hypertension
prevention, as well as the importance of approaches that consider local values for long-term
intervention success.
